Alibaba Group’s Hema supermarket in Shanghai is taking the grocerant experience to a new level.
Customers can select ingredients from the store’s seafood department and have them prepared to eat on site. Shoppers can pay for their order and book a seat in the dining area through the grocery store’s app.
While consumers wait to be seated, their ingredients are stored in a robot-controlled fridge. Once the meal is prepared it is delivered to the diner’s seat by robot.
